Accentus Medical has been recognised as a successful innovation company at the 2012 Oxfordshire Business Awards. Based at the Harwell Campus, Accentus Medical is a developer and FDA registered manufacturer focused on improving the clinical performance of medical implants. The company has developed and commercialised the Acusure® range of advanced surface coatings designed to improve the biocompatibility and durability of orthopaedic implants. The company is also pioneering the development of an innovative surface treatment called Agluna®, which harnesses the anti-microbial properties of silver ions to significantly reduce infection rates following implant surgery. Agluna® is currently being commercialised within the global orthopaedic industry. The encouraging progress being made by Accentus Medical led to its nomination by the Oxfordshire Business Awards judging panel as a top three finalist in the 2012 Innovation Award category, sponsored by Oxford Brookes University & Business School.
